PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE COURSES
2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR
The Skills Development Facilitation Grant (SDFG) is a flagship partial scholarship initiative designed to empower youth across Uganda by enhancing access to quality technical and vocational education and training (TVET). Administered in collaboration with select accredited tertiary institutions, this cost-sharing program supports students pursuing Diploma and Certificate programs in demand-driven career fields.
Who Can Apply?
The program targets students who have completed any of the following:
- Junior Vocational Certificate (JVC)
- Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE/S.4)
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE/S.6)
- National Certificate (UBTEB or equivalent)
Grant Coverage
The SDFG covers between 50% to 100% of the tuition fees for the course of admission. Beneficiaries are responsible for the remaining percentage and all other related costs such as registration & examination fees, course materials, uniforms, welfare fees (where applicable) or any other relevant requirement depending on the institution chosen.
Note: All programs are examined by the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB), except for ECD and Art & Industrial Designs which follow other respective professional assessment.

Minimum Entry Requirements
For National Diploma Programs:
Either UACE results with at least 1 Principal Pass and 2 Subsidiaries in relevant subjects with 3–5 passes at UCE.
OR
A National Certificate from UVTAB with a Second-Class Lower Division & above with 3–5 passes at UCE.
For National Certificate Programs:
Either results from UCE with at least 3–5 passes in relevant subjects.
Or a community polytechnic Certificate from UVTAB
All applicants must present certified academic documents relevant to the chosen course.
Selection Criteria
Beneficiaries are selected directly by participating institutions based on:
- TVET minimum academic requirements
- Availability of grant slots
- Recommendation based on talent
- Merit and/or demonstrated need
